Izv.prof.dr.sc. Ivona Bago graduated from the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb in 2005. year. During her studies, she received the Rector’s Award for scientific research work. She completed her specialization in family dentistry at the University Hospital Center Zagreb in 2010 and has since been employed at the Department of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb. She earned her PhD in 2013 on the application of lasers in endodontic treatment of teeth. In 2014, she completed a two-year postgraduate EMDOLA (European Master Degree in Oral Laser Application) program at the University of Sophia Antipolis in Nice, France. She was awarded a French government scholarship for studies in France. She completed her specialization in endodontics with restorative dentistry in 2015, and in 2016, she received the academic title of Assistant Professor at the Department of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the School of Dental Medicine in Zagreb.
She received the Award for the Best Scientific Paper in 2012, granted by the Society of University Teachers and Other Scientists in Zagreb. Since 2019, she has been the course leader in the postgraduate doctoral program at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, “Clinical and Laboratory Analysis of Laser Use and Activation Techniques in Endodontics”.
Since 2020, she has been the head of the Croatian Science Foundation project “Clinical and experimental research of laser-activated photoacoustic flow and photoactivated disinfection in endodontic treatment”.
She is the author of a large number of scientific and professional papers in domestic and international journals. She actively participates in domestic and international congresses. She was an invited speaker at the World Federation of Lasers in Dentistry Congress 2014 in Paris. Since 2012, she has been a regular speaker at the annual congresses of the Croatian Endodontic Society. She actively participates in continuing education courses at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and courses on the application of lasers in endodontics.
Since 2014, she has been the secretary of the Croatian Endodontic Society and the Society’s representative at the European Endodontic Society.
