The disease was previously called periodontitis, and the term periodontitis or paradentosis is still in use in some places. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Periodontitis is the second most common oral disease that causes tooth loss after caries. According to the World Health Organization, it is one of the public health problems of today. Therefore, it is very important to be familiar with the symptoms of periodontitis so that it can be treated in a timely manner.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This disease, unfortunately, can destroy the tissue and jaw bone for years, before it is recognized. If the penetration of bacteria into the deeper layers around the teeth occurs, there will be a progressive and irreversible loss of the jaw bone around the teeth. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Symptoms of early periodontitis-gingivitis<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Symptoms that may warn of the risk of developing periodontitis are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">redness of the gums<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gum sensitivity or soreness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bleeding gums when brushing, flossing, or spontaneously<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These symptoms indicate gingivitis, which is an acute inflammation of the gums. During pregnancy, there is a greater tendency for gum inflammation and therefore a greater risk of developing periodontitis.
