Teeth treatment

Tooth treatment is the most common dental procedure. It consists of cavity removal and tooth reconstruction with durable and aesthetic material.

When do we need a theeth treatment?

Experience shows that patients most often come to have their teeth treated after a tooth has developed cavity.

In that case, the sooner the patient decides to have the tooth treated, the easier it will be and possible complications will be reduced to a minimum.

Other reasons for repairing and reconstructing a part of a damaged crown can be tooth trauma, as well as tooth reconstruction after endodontic therapy.

Minor tooth reconstructions or repairs are mostly done with white composite material that allows us to faithfully mimic the appearance of a natural tooth.

It is an aesthetic white filling or filling that is not aesthetically different from a natural tooth.

Dental cavity

Cavity is one of the most common diseases today. It is an infective disease caused by the action of cariogenic bacteria in the oral cavity.

The product of the metabolism of cariogenic bacteria is an acid that destroys the enamel, dentin, and finally the inside of the tooth, leading to complete tooth decay.

If we react in time, we can treat the tooth and save it from decay, however, we will certainly have to reconstruct a part of the tooth with an inlay or filling.

Trauma and cracked teeth

Minor fractures or cracks on teeth are also reconstructed with modern composite material from which aesthetic fillings are made today.

Endodontic dental treatment

In case of the dental pulp being affected, in addition to the reconstruction of the crown, it is necessary to perform endodontic treatment of the teeth.

As the affected dental pulp usually means a greater loss of the crown, but also due to the loss of tooth vitality, the remaining part of the crown needs to be protected with a prosthetic crown.

Types of dental fillings

In the past, fillings were made with a mixture made of various metals, the so-called amalgam.

Seeing as amalgams contained potentially harmful and dangerous metals, today we make fillings or inlays from composites and larger reconstructions of the crown with ceramics.

Inlay, onlay and overlay fillings in fact refer to inserts made of gold or dental ceramic to make up for the lost part of the tooth. That is why we call them prosthetic fillings.

Ceramic inlay, onlay and overlay fillings are made in the dental laboratory with precise CAD/CAM technology.

Their advantage over composite fillings is the easier restoration of several tooth surfaces at once, preservation of teeth, since it is not necessary to remove as much tooth tissue as with fillings, but also greater durability.

Ceramic inlay

Gold inlay, onlay and overlay fillings have the added advantage over the ceramic ones: they can be inserted in a thinner layer, which further protects the tooth from grinding.

In addition, when under pressure gold constantly adjusts, expands or shrinks, filling potential microcracks and thus reducing the possibility of cavity developing on a repaired tooth.
