The Apolonija Dental Clinic provides top notch services with the latest technological systems such as CAD/CAM technology.
CAD/CAM stands for Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing.
It is used when making:
This technology considerably shortens the manufacturing process. The computer provides a perfect and precisely made dental prosthesis and reduces the possibility of error in its manufacture.
This technique is minimally invasive and not at all uncomfortable for the patient.
How is CAD/CAM used in practice?
The specialized system consists of an intraoral camera and computer software which displays scanned teeth on the screen. It is not necessary to take an impression because the camera scans your teeth in 3D format which is immediately ready for further processing.
Preparing a tooth for restoration
We start with the preparation, then prepare the teeth depending on the type of restoration. The teeth are then ready for digital impression.
Taking an optical impression
The iTero intraoral scanner scans the teeth and bite in detail making an optical impression. Based on it, the program will design a perfect crown, veneer or other dental restoration. A 3D presentation of the appearance of your future tooth appears on the screen.
Tooth modeling
The software calculates the size, shape and appearance of the ceramic restoration ready to be made. All this takes place under the expert guidance and supervision of our specialist in dental prosthodontics.
Treating the dental restoration with a dental milling machine
After 3D modeling in the software, a multilayer ceramic block is placed in the dental milling machine. The milling machine makes a naturally looking restoration that will completely replace the tooth.
Ceramics is the highest quality material for making dental prosthetic supplements. In addition to looking like a natural tooth, it is completely biocompatible.
