What is Invisalign and how does it work?

Invisalign is a system of transparent trays or splints (originally “aligners”) that are used to move teeth and correct the bite.
Clear Invisalign aligners are made individually for each patient, according to a treatment plan. Tooth-colored attachments are placed on the teeth. The aligners grip the attachments with their grooves and adhere firmly to the teeth.

Depending on the treatment plan, the patient will receive a certain number of Invisalign trays. The dimensions and architecture of each tray incorporate a small, but precisely planned shift of the teeth in relation to the previous clear tray. Thus, by changing one tray after another every 10-14 days, the teeth gradually move towards the desired position.

Invisalign system It is used for various orthodontic anomalies. As with any orthodontic therapy, the goal is to correct bite irregularities and then improve the aesthetics of the smile.
Invisalign therapy generally lasts as long as classic orthodontic therapy, between 1 and 2 years.

Is Invisalign as effective as other dental braces ?

In some cases, Invisalign is as successful as other orthodontic braces.

However, it also has its limitations. Invisalign is not a substitute for every orthodontic treatment and is not suitable for every orthodontic anomaly. There are scientific studies that clearly indicate when it is better to use aligners and when it is better to use classic orthodontic appliances.
Therefore, it is necessary for an orthodontic specialist to make an assessment of the most appropriate type of therapy.
