Dental implants

Safe placement of dental implants, after which you will be able to eat carefree and laugh freely again.

A dental implant comes in the form of a screw that is implanted into the jawbone. It is made of titanium , which is a bioinert material. This means that it does not cause harmful reactions or inflammation in the body and does not interfere with the ability of bone tissue to regenerate. Dental implants have been implanted for more than 50 years, and today they are a proven, reliable and affordable solution for a lost tooth.

We have been installing dental implants for 25 years. We have transferred our experiences into this e-manual of valuable information about implant placement. He will help you to get informed and make a decision that you can be completely sure of.

The installation of dental implants at the Apolonija Polyclinic is carried out according to the protocol and guidelines of international implantology institutions (European Association for Osseointegration (EAO)).

Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia and is completely painless . The procedure and implant guarantees are documented in detail in the implantology booklet. The implantology booklet is a document that a patient in Apollonia receives after the installation of dental implants. It serves as a record of all important information related to the implant.

Do you have enough bone mass to place a dental implant?

For successful implant placement, the height and width of the bone ridge are crucial. Jawbone resorption is a natural process of bone loss that usually occurs in the jawbone after tooth loss. When teeth are missing, the jawbone no longer receives enough stimulation during chewing, which leads to gradual bone loss, which looks like this:

    1) The height of the bone ridge in the presence of teeth.

    2) Within the first year after tooth loss, about 25% of bone height can be lost. Bone loss is most rapid at this stage because the jawbone no longer receives mechanical stimulation from chewing.

    3) After a year, the loss of bone mass slows down, but continues. In the first two to three years, 40-60% of bone mass can be lost. This creates problems for future prosthetic procedures because the reduction in bone volume makes it difficult to place dental implants.

After five years or more , bone loss becomes chronic, and bone mass continues to be resorbed and reduced over the years, although more slowly than at the beginning.

Bone loss in the jaw is not necessarily an obstacle to implant placement. Bone augmentation is a procedure that compensates for lost bone mass, creating a solid and stable base for dental implants. Learn more about bone augmentation and preparation for implant installation in our e-manual.
